Wistron Corporation, AI Supercomputer Manufacturing for nVidia, Fort Worth, TX
Wistron Corporation is a Taiwanese based, global contract electronics manufacturer supplying innovative products, service solutions and system to the worlds top brands in the Information and Communications Technology brands worldwide. Wistron manufactures cutting-edge AI components, as well as portable computers, desktops, servers and enterprise storage devices, display products and communications devices.
Summit was engaged by Wistron to design their state of the art $761M investment in an electronic manufacturing facility featuring a 30MW testing and fabrication processes. The facility is equipped with (2) central plants that sum to a combined 5,400 tons. To meet owner schedule requirements, natural gas generators were utilized in a bridge power configurations, with staged design for a future conversion to standby power once all utility power was installed. Multiple utility services and medium voltage design were utilized to accommodate the load ramp from the owner. Production spaces were designed by Summit to ISO 8 criteria supplemented with additional owner specifications. Facility fabrication systems included a 1,500 HP compressed air plant, centralized vacuum pumps, on-site nitrogen generation, and hazardous process exhaust.
Summit’s team went far beyond the normal duties of a typical MEP consulting team to ensure the success of Wistron and others engaged in this project. Summit’s team sought out early procurement equipment, including quotes, to find the highly specialized and long-lead MEP equipment required for a highly complex project of this type. From natural generators to transformers, Medium-Voltage Switchgear, switchboards, chillers and other critical equipment, Summit worked through 30-year relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to find precisely the right equipment for the project, ensuring that manufacturing started months earlier than would have been possible without Summit’s above and beyond effort to secure success for their client.
